ATLANTA (GaeaTimes.com)- It seems that the leading National League East team Atlanta Braves is in no mood to slacken the team’s performance, rather making arrangements to tighten it up. The Atlanta Braves has reportedly acquired infielder Alex Gonzalez and traded their infielder Yunel Escobar to Toronto Blue Jays. The two teams have entered a five-player deal recently bringing in this change in players. The shortstop swap will help both the teams to increase their chances to win games.

Apart from Alex Gonzalez the other players who were traded in the five-player deal were Atlanta Braves lefthander Jo-Jo Reyes who was sent to the Toronto Blue Jays along with Yunel Escobar. The Atlanta Braves on the other hand acquired minor-league shortstop Tyler Pastornicky and Tim Collins who is a lefthanded minor-league pitcher. No doubt the player trade entered by the two teams hopes to utilize the talents acquired to the fullest.

However, the trade of Alex Gonzalez to the Atlanta Braves has pained many fans of the team as the player had played a key role in his former team. The 33-year-old Alex Gonzalez has a score of 0.359 hits with 50 RBIs and 17 home runs to his credit. His 43 extra-base hits have led him for a tie in the American League. While some feel that Alex Gonzalez’s experience as a veteran infielder will help the Atlanta Braves all the more, others feel that the 27-year-old Yunel Escobar has a potential to become a defensive player who could reach new heights. The present deal therefore maximizes the chances of the Atlanta Braves to lead the National League East this year as well.
