Dalhausser-Rogers win 5th straight Hermosa title

HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. — Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers won the AVP Hermosa Beach Open on Sunday for the fifth year in a row.

They’re the only team, men’s or women’s to win five straight.

Jennifer Kessy and April Ross won the women’s bracket, securing their fourth straight AVP Tour victory this season.

Dalhausser and Rogers, the top-seeded men’s team, beat 13th-seeded John Mayer and Matt Prosser, 21-14, 21-11, in Sunday’s final. They lost just one game in five matches throughout the weekend.

Kessy and Ross, also seeded first, beat Elaine Youngs and Rachel Scott, 21-17, 21-14 in Sunday’s final. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor and partner Nicole Branagh finished tied for fifth.
