MUNICH - Louis van Gaal wants to spend at most two more seasons at Bayern Munich before looking to coach a national team.

The Dutchman, who led Bayern to a league and cup double as well as the final of the Champions League last season, has a contract until June 30, 2011 but won’t discuss a possible one-year extension until the end of the upcoming season.

“My contract ends next year and I am not going to sign a new one before then,” van Gaal told Monday’s edition of Kicker magazine.

“I want to coach a country where I can win something. That could be Germany, Spain, Argentina so perhaps I’ll stay here for an extra year until 2012 and then take over as coach of a country.”

The 58-year-old had been touted as a potential successor to Germany coach Joachim Loew and admitted that he really should consider leaving Bayern now if he wanted to have a coaching position for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“Now is the time when national team coaches are being appointed,” he said.
