NEW DELHI - Rains may play spoilsport during the Commonwealth Games.

According to the weather office, there is possibility of rains during the first week of October.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the latest model forecasts from a majority of the dynamical and statistical models indicate very high probability (about 80 percent) for the La Nina conditions to continue during the remaining part of the monsoon season.

The La Nina conditions in general are associated with the normal or above normal rainfall during the monsoon season.

“Due to the prevailing La Nina conditions the monsoon will not collapse all of a sudden by September and rains are likely to continue in the first week of October,” said IMD director general A.K. Tyagi.

The Commonwealth Games will be held from Oct 3-14.
