DAMBULLA, SRI LANKA (GaeaTimes.com)- Virender Sehwag lead his team to victory on Monday as he remained unbeaten at 99 to ensure that India register their win against Sri Lanka in a Micromax ODI tri-series match which was held at the Rangiri Stadium in the city of Dambulla. With Monday’s win, India are back in the tri-series with Virender Sehwag playing one of the most significant roles in ensuring that his team tastes victory and comfortably chases the target of 171 that was set by the opponents. The Indian vice-captain got the much-needed support from skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and together the two leading batsman conjured up a decisive 80-run partnership for the fifth wicket which changed the course of the game.

With the scintillating performance that Virender Sehwag displayed, he surely deserved a century which seemed quite possible as on the 35th over, the vice-captain required just one run to reserve the century while India needed a run to win the match. However, as Sri Lankan spinner Suraj Randiv bowled a no-ball, despite the fact that Indian batsman was able to successfully hit the ball for a six, as per the rules of the game, he did not score any runs.

In the meanwhile, the manner in which Suraj Randiv bowled a no-ball which denied Virender Sehwag, the well-deserved century has raised many questions as the Sri Lankan spinner did not bowl a single no-ball in the Test series. Although the Indian vice-captain was crowned the Man of the Match, Virender Sehwag expressed his displeasure regarding the way his ton was denied to him by the Sri Lankan player.
