NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com) — The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) will not be presenting any parting gifts to the Fresno State and Nevada. The Bulldogs and Wolf Pack will move towards the Mountain West. The Commissioner of WAC stated that an amount of $5 million will have to be paid to his league. They will also have to wait till 2012 before they move on to accept MWC’s invitation.

Commish Karl Benson said:

In a 12-hour period, the WAC went from having a secure and prosperous future to once again not knowing what the future will hold.

He also added that the decision taken by Fresno State and Nevada were ’selfish’. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Nevada did not sign the Buyout Agreement and Loyalty Pledge yet. The Wolf Pack are still subject to the deal. The later will be receiving the money, 60 days due from Wednesday.

WAC has already started looking for new members. It had started with 6 teams way back in 1962. It was in the mid 90s when the strength increased to two-eight teams division. In 1999, 8 os the schools left WAC to form Mountain West.
