Bhullar best Indian after first round at Gleneagles

PERTHSHIRE - A bogey on his final hole in the first round was the lone blemish for Gaganjeet Bhullar, playing in his first tournament of the year in Europe, as he shot a three-under 69 at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

Bhullar, who received a special invite for the event, was the best of the five Indians on view in the first round. Bhullar, who started from the tenth, shot four birdies in his first 10 holes and then parred the rest till the ninth, his final hole for the day. He was tied 19th Thursday.

Jyoti Randhawa shot a two-under 70 and his line mistake came on the ninth, where he bogeyed. Jeev Milkha Singh, despite a double bogey on his final hole, also the ninth, carded a one-under 71. Shiv Kapur with three birdies on the back nine of the course, had seven bogeys, including six on the front stretch of the course, for a card of 76. SSP Chowrasia shot 77.
