Cliff Lee may miss next start for Rangers

MINNEAPOLIS — Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington says there’s a good chance that Cliff Lee’s next start will be skipped because of the pitcher’s back pain.

Lee, who is scheduled to pitch Tuesday at Toronto, felt some discomfort in the area of his back where he recently got a cortisone shot when he threw in the outfield on Saturday.

“Because there’s a little apprehension there, it’s probably 70-30 chance that he won’t go,” Washington said before Sunday’s game against Minnesota. “We’ve just got to see how he feels.”

Lee is 10-8 this season with a 3.37 earned run average, but is 2-5 with a 4.69 ERA since coming to the Rangers from Seattle.
