NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The women’s clash to watch out for on Saturday night promised to be a treat for the eyes as Svetlana Kuznetsova took on the gorgeous Maria Kirilenko. Maria Kirilenko became the center of media attention after the stunning performance in the first two rounds. The former swimsuit model knocked out Elena Vesnina initially and then followed it up in the second round with a dominating performance over Timea Bacsinsky (6-3, 6-1). In the third round, however, Svetlana Kuznetsova turned out to be too much for the Russian beauty as she thrashed her 6-3, 6-4 and ended her run in the 2010 US Open.

The match, however, was touted to be an absolute thriller as Svetlana Kuznetsova, being a far more established tennis player, was facing Maria Kirilenko, who had defeated her on the previous two encounters. Yet the match was the perfect comeback vehicle for the two-time major champion. On the other hand, Maria Kirilenko had the best opportunity for an upset as she was at the peak of her momentum and also gathered some fan following due to her stunning looks history as a swimsuit model. She became a hot search on the web instantly after the game.

Maria Kirilenko was born in Moscow in 1987. She came into the limelight after she became the junior girls champion in the 2002 US Open. Her Russian compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova looked in complete control of the match and finished with a 30-12 advantage in the winners. She also saved both the break points that she faced against Maria Kirilenko. Svetlana Kuznetsova will now face Dominika Cibulkova.
