HUNTINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- It is just the second week and already the NFL college football fever is on. Each and every team is trying its best to prove itself and driving hard to achieve victory. On Friday as the Marshall University football team met the West Virginia University team at Joan C. Edwards stadium for the second time in four years, the two placed their best foot forward and dragged the game till overtime to reach to a conclusion. The No. 23 placed West Virginia that was seen trailing behind the Marshall University for most of the night came forward with some brilliant play towards the end and dragged the game to an overtime, posting a 24-21 win over the latter.

Although Marshall University has remained an underdog since it resumed its series in 2006 and has been outscored 141-43 in four games, on Friday it seemed that the team was in no mood to allow its opponent win. It was Marshall University that came forward with an early lead. West Virginia Mountaineers were trailing by 15 points during the early fourth quarter with score boards reading 21-6 in favor of Marshall University.

By throwing three touchdown passes for the Marshall University team, Brian Anderson seemed to have sealed the game in favor of his university, however luck favored the northern neighbor heavily in the fourth quarter. The West Virginia Mountaineers team not only caught up with the score, but went for a 20-yard field goal in the first extra session to seal the victory in their favor. While Tyler Bitancurt went for 20-yard field goal, Marshall University’s Tyler Warner missed a 39-yard goal attempt wide right to end the game in the opponent’s favor.
