LONDON - Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor saw his relationship with coach Roberto Mancini hit rock bottom after an amazing bust-up over an accusation that the striker had faked an injury.

Mancini claimed it was no more than a dead leg, but Adebayor went for a scan to prove the injury was genuine. City’s 170,000-pound-a-week forward responded by taking a scan of the torn leg muscle into Mancini’s training ground office, News of the World reports.

Adebayor, 26, has not played for the club after joining the side as a substitute in their 1-0 defeat at Sunderland last month.

“It all kicked off between them. There is nothing worse than a manager accusing a player of feigning an injury. Adebayor might not be playing well, but he would never be so unprofessional. He was furious,” the paper quoted a City source, as saying.

It has been reported that the relationship between the duo had been simmering ever since

Adebayor was left out of Mancini’s starting line-up for the opening game of the season at Tottenham following the arrival of Italian Mario Balotelli.

The latest incident being Adebayor’s chequered career at Eastlands, which took place prior to last weekend’s draw at home to Blackburn.

Adebayor has missed City’s last two matches following his injury.

The City striker, who is struggling to cope with Mancini’s methods, had to be stopped by friends from confronting Mancini at White Hart Lane after he was left on the bench.

Adebayor, who demanded an explanation from the Italian boss at their warm-down session the following day, has publicly threatened to quit the club if he is not a regular in the first team this season. (ANI)
