Rockies get 3B Ian Stewart back from disabled list

PHOENIX — Colorado Rockies third baseman Ian Stewart has rejoined the team after a stint on the disabled list, but manager Jim Tracy isn’t sure when he’ll return to the lineup.

Stewart has been on the DL since Aug. 26 with a strained right oblique. He made big strides in rehab over the past week and hit in a simulated game before Thursday’s game against Arizona, hitting two homers in six at-bats.

Tracy said he won’t rush Stewart back into the lineup, in part because Melvin Mora has been playing so well. Mora is hitting .321 with three homers and 16 RBIs in 23 games since taking over for Stewart.

Stewart batted .264 with 18 homers and 60 RBIs in 115 games before going on the DL.
