CWG women’s hockey: Oz beat Scotland, enter semis

NEW DELHI - Australia advanced to the semi-finals of the womens hockey competition in the Commonwealth Games defeating Scotland 5-2 in their concluding pool A match here Saturday.

The Aussies, gold medallists at the 2006 Games, finished their group outings with 10 points, leaving India (4) and South Africa (7) to battle it out for the second semi-final spot from the group.

Setting a hot pace from the start, the Australians left nothing to chance and were up 4-0 before the Scots marked their presence with two quick goals by Samantha Judge and Alisa Robertson.

However, the Aussies virtually sealed the game when Jessica Arrold converted her second penalty corner of the match to join Kate Hollywood, Megan Rivers and Ashleigh Nelson on the scorers list.
