LONDON - Manchester United defender Wes Brown’s future at Old Trafford is reportedly hanging by a thread over his pre-season bust-up with manager Alex Ferguson.

Brown reportedly had an argument with Ferguson over a night out organized by United’s players during their pre-season tour of America.

Since then, the 30-year-old has not started a Premier League game, but had a lucky break in the Champions League match against Rangers.

When asked if he was frustrated over being on the sidelines: Brown said: “Yeah, a little bit, but I’ve always had to deal with that situation throughout my career. It’s something I’ve learned to handle. We’ve got lots of good players in defensive positions.” I have to keep training hard and, when I do get a chance, play well. There’s no point sulking and letting it get to you,” The Sun quoted Brown, as saying.

“It might be difficult, but you have to remember that everyone wants to play every week. Unfortunately, that can’t happen,” he added.

Brown has spent his entire career at Manchester United since joining the youth team in 1996.

He made his senior debut in 1998, and became a regular first team player in the 1998-1999 season, in which he was part of the club’s Treble winning team.

Ferguson had earlier stated that Brown is “without question the best natural defender this club has had for years”. (ANI)
