NEW DELHI - The opening ceremony got universal raves, but the Commonwealth Games closing event attracted mixed reviews among the Twitterati, with some praising the pulsating atmosphere, while others complained about the Bollywood touch.

There was great anticipation in the build-up to the closing ceremony, with people expecting a magnificent show equivalent to the opener Oct 3.

Tweeting live about the closing ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Swapnil Pandey first wrote about his journey to the venue. Off for the #CWG closing ceremony. The Delhi roads look amazingly empty… A great drive!!! he said at about 4.30 p.m.

By the time, the Bollywood musical show was at its peak at the finale, he wrote on his twitter account, The athletes seem to be loving dancin to the Indian nos.. Great show!!

Watching the event on his television in Mumbai, a popular Indian twitter, Bombay Addict was ecstatic about the pulsating music which got everyone on their feet. Oh come on! We needed Bollywood here, come on! What did you expect? Snakes and rope tricks? he asked.

Among the critics, Deepu Thomas said that the event did not meet the high standards set by the opening ceremony. CWG closing ceremony was dull compared to opening cermony. And they shouldn’t hav sung all those Bollywood n western songs, he wrote on his social networking account.

Pragyan Mohanty added, Oh this magnified DJ party must be far more interesting for the videshis (foreigners).

Ayaz Memon, a sports writer, who witnessed the closing ceremony live at the stadium, tweeted, I’m really enjoying this. Serious business is over. This is the way closing ceremonies must go: with total abandon.

On some of the criticism being directed against it, he responded, again on twitter, The success of any such event is best gauged by the reaction of the athletes and spectators. Both sets are having a blast.
