PM meets Indian CWG medal winners

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday evening met the Indian medal winners in the 19th Commonwealth Games at his residence here, an official said.

Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur interacted with the medal winners and their coaches and congratulated them, he added.

Sports Minister M.S. Gill accompanied the sportspersons. India had a record haul of 101 medals - 38 gold, 27 silver and 36 bronze - placing the country in the second position behind Australia.

However, the Games Organising Committee (OC) chief Suresh Kalmadi and other members of the committee were not invited to the function, sources said.

The Games concluded with a glittering ceremony Thursday night.
