Must improve Twenty20 performances to avoid selectors gun: Clarke

SYDNEY - Australia Twenty20 captain Michael Clarke has conceded that his batting form slump in the shortest format of the game could have him in the selectors’ gun sights.
Clarke averages little over 20 in Twenty20, and admits that he struggles to turn “30s into a big score”.
“After the Twenty20 World Cup, personally my performances weren’t as good as I’d have liked with the bat and it’s something I continue to look at,” Fox Sports quoted Clarke, as saying.
“After that, the selectors re-picked our squad for these games coming up and fortunately I’m still in the team, so hopefully I can get out there and score some runs. I think (I’m in the same position) as every other player, to be honest.”
“I have to perform as well as I possibly can and if I’m not performing well enough, then I’d imagine they’d drop me like any other player,” he added.
The 29-year-old, who has played in 33 Twenty20 internationals, further expects that his performances would get better with more experience.
“I think I’ve played 64 Test matches, 170-odd one-day matches, and nowhere near as many Twenty20 matches, for starters,” Clarke said.
“So, I’m hoping the more I play, the better I become at it,” he added. (ANI)
