Silva’s hat-trick in Chirag United 5-0 win over IAF

NEW DELHI - Josimar Da Silva Martine scored a hat-trick to power Chirag United to a staggering 5-0 victory over Indian Air Force and into the semi-finals of the Durand Cup football here Tuesday.

Chirag United struck first with a goal by Denson Deva Das in the 38th minute at the Ambedkar Stadium. It was the only goal of the first half.

Brazilian Silva emerged the star of the day, scoring a hat-trick and guiding his team into the semi-finals. He scored in the 50th, 68th and the 85th minutes of the game.

The fifth goal for the Kolkata club came from Gouranga Biswas in the 78th minute.

After an easy outing here, Chirag United will have their task cut out when they play fancied East Bengal in the second semi-final Thursday.

Goan club Churchill Brothers will face JCT Phagwara in the first semi-final Wednesday.
