Derrell Johnson-Koulianos Suspended After Arrest

IOWA (GaeaTimes.com)- Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, the wide receiver of Iowa Hawkeyes college football team was arrested on Tuesday on multiple counts of possessing controlled substance, two counts of illegitimate possession of prescription drugs and also for keeping a drug house. Following his arrest, the coach of his team Kirk Ferentz has announced that the player has been suspended from all the team activities for his unlawful drug possession. The wide receiver was unavailable for any comments.

Kirk Ferentz said that he is “highly disappointed” to learn about the arrest hence he is suspended from the team. Derrell Johnson-Koulianos posted $8,000 bail and then he was released from the Iowa County Jail on Tuesday night. However, the player will have to make a court appearance in Johnson County District Court on Wednesday morning owing to his various drug charges. The law enforcement officials said that they searched Derrell Johnson-Koulianos home and found marijuana, cocaine and several other unlawful prescription drugs. Even the player admitted that he uses cocaine after police found residue of the drug at his bedroom.

Derrell Johnson-Koulianos reportedly told the police that he gets all the drugs from his friends. The police even administered a urine test and the result came as positive. The player said that he smoked marijuana 24 hours before his arrest. The police found anxiety medicines like Dilaudid, Diazepam, Zolpidem Tartrate, Hydroxyzine Pamoate, to name a few. The search team also found $3,000 cash from his home. It is yet not clear if the player has hired any attorney from his side. Moreover, the law enforcement officials did not say why they were prompted to search his home.
