LONDON - Former England captain Alec Stewart has backed Andrew Strauss’ team to steamroller Australia in the final three Tests of the ongoing Ashes series.

England is currently leads the five-match series 1-0, after winning the second Test at the Adelaide Oval by an innings and 71 runs.

“As both a fan and an ex-England player, I’m thoroughly enjoying this series. England have the ambition of being the best team in the world and I believe in two years they will be,” the Sun quoted Stewart, as saying.

“If we can beat the Aussies 4-0 in this series, then fantastic - I’d take that every day of the week. If you get a side down, keep them there. Their press and public are turning on them - long may it continue.”

“I’m amazed how poor Australia have been so far. They can improve over the next three games, but England are playing great cricket and will be too strong for it to make any difference,” he added.

The third Test of the series will be player at Perth’s WACA Ground from Thursday. (ANI)
