MELBOURNE - Australia’s nightmare in the Ashes continued as fast bowler Ryan Harris Tuesday was detected with a stress facture on his left ankle and is likely to undergo a surgery.

The 31-year-old fast bowler limped out of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) Monday on the third day of the fourth Ashes Test.

Cricket Australia’s Doctor Trefor James said: “Ryan Harris developed ankle pain during Englands first innings and scans have revealed that he has a stress fracture of his left ankle. Ryan is likely to require surgery and will consult a specialist in the next 24 hours.

A team spokesman said a decision has not been made yet on whether Harris will bat in Australia’s second innings.
