PSPB win National Badminton team championships

ROHTAK - Top seeds Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) continued their dominance by winning the men’s and women’s team events of National Badminton Championships, outclassing Railways here Thursday.

In the men’s section, PSPB, who survived a scare from Andhra Pradesh in the semi-final, thrashed Railways 3-0 to win the Rahimtoola Cup.

The men’s final saw ace PSPB shuttler Chetan Anand getting the better of B.Kiran Kumar 21-8, 21-9. In the doubles match, Arvind Bhat and Rupesh Kumar (PSPB) defeated Anil Kumar Raju and T.Dinesh 21-19, 21-16.

Parupalli Kashyap then defeated P.Vinay Kumar Reddy 21-16, 21-14 to make it a clean sweep for PSPB.

In the women’s section, too, PSPB blanked Railways 2-0 to win the Chadha Cup.

Trupti Murgunde, representing PSPB, defeated Anita Ohlan 21-16, 21-9, while Aparna Balan and Shruti Kurien (PSPB) won against Dhanya Nair and Anita 21-10, 21-13 in the doubles encounter.
