LONDON - Confident of signing David Beckham, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has said the midfielder could make his Spurs debut against Manchester United.

Spurs hope to unveil Beckham ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Charlton.

The deal with LA Galaxy has yet to be finalized, but Redknapp said: “If David’s here and trains well and he feels good, he’ll be involved against United.”

“Hopefully he will be at the Charlton game and could be unveiled on the pitch,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.

“It started to look in the week as if it wasn’t going to happen but I’m now told there is a good chance it will be sorted out over the weekend. I don’t think there is a lot to tie up because it’s not a money move for David,” Redknapp said.

Former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson believes Beckham will silence the doubters on his Premier League return.

Eriksson, now in charge at Leicester, said: “I think he can still play in the top flight.

“He’s still fit and I’m sure he hasn’t lost the skill in his right foot. Knowing David, I don’t think he would go to Spurs if he didn’t think he could still do it in the Premier League.” (ANI)
