LONDON - Barmy Army fans rejoiced in Sydney after England registered a historic 3-1 series win against Australia, for the first time in an Ashes series since 1987.

Bowler Chris Tremlett took the final Australian wicket, breaking the hearts of locals including his supermodel girlfriend Samantha King, 22.

The fall of the final wicket sparked wild celebrations in the Sydney Cricket Ground among the 15,000-strong crowd. The Barmy Army created a carnival atmosphere for the trophy presentations at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

“We’re heading into the weekend, so I am sure this will go on for two or three days,” The Daily Express quoted Barmy Army founder Paul Burnham, as saying.

“The win is a massive thing to achieve - the way it was done, and it’s been 24 years since the last. Anyone here for six weeks could easily be spending 2,000 pounds a week - but no one is thinking about the money on a day like this,” he added.

The England cricket team also paid their tributes to the fans by joining their raucous end-of-tour party at a hotel near the city’s waterfront. (ANI)
