LONDON - Former Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is being lined up to take over from Avram Grant as West Ham United manager if he is sacked at Upton Park.

According to the Sun, West Ham United board is thought to be ready to offer Allardyce a six-month contract.

The Upton Park board has lost faith in Grant with the team nailed to the foot of the Premier League with only 16 games to go.

“The club has been very supportive of the manager, but there’s a real worry things will not improve sufficiently,” the tabloid quoted an insider, as saying.

“Grant has a 20 per cent chance of keeping his job, but sacking a manager now is a tough call,” he added.

Allardyce, who was appointed by Blackburn Rovers in 2008 on a three-year contract, was sacked by the club’s Indian owners, Venky’s, last month saying that his style of football was not what they want at Ewood Park. (ANI)
