Ranji Trophy final: Rajasthan 198/3 against Baroda

VADODARA - Skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar stroked a half-century as Rajasthan made a solid start in the Ranji Trophy final against Baroda amassing 198 for three at the end of the first day’s play here Tuesday.

Kanitkar, former India player, scored 61 off 147 balls with seven fours and a six.

Robin Bist was batting 56 and had Vivek Yadav (4) for company, when stumps were drawn at the Moti Bagh Stadium.

Earlier, sent in to bat, Rajasthan openers Aakash Chopra (34) and Vineet Saxena (31) added 67 runs for the opening stand before the former Delhi skipper was trapped leg before by Bhargav Bhatt. Saxena soon followed him after being run out and Rajasthan were two wickets down for 73.

Kanitkar, who hit seven fours and a six, shared 117 runs with Bist for the third wicket paving the way for a big first innings total.
