Mercedes to unveil new Formula One car next month

LONDON - Mercedes Formula One team will launch its new car for the forthcoming season Feb 1.

The car MGP W02 will be unveiled in front of the teams garage at the Valencia race track before it debuts later in the day, the official F1 website reported Friday.

Mercedes, which has retained legendary driver Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg for the 2011 season, collected 240 points in the last season and came fourth in the constructors championship.

Seven-time champion Schumacher, who made a surprise comeback, finished ninth, two places behind Rosberg.

Ferrari will be the first team to showcase their new car Jan 28. Sauber and Renault will be next, launching in Valencia Jan 31, whilst Toro Rosso will reveal their car a day later.

McLaren will be in action with an interim car at the Valencia test, before unveiling the new MP4-26 Feb 4.
