LONDON - Blackburn Rovers completed the signing of German club Schalke 04 midfielder Jermaine Jones on a six-month loan deal Tuesday.

The 29-year-old USA international becomes the club’s second signing of the transfer window after the arrival of Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City.

“He is a fantastic signing for us,” said manager Steve Kean.

“Anybody who knows him as a player, he is a natural ball winner, he is a very good passer as well.”

“He has got a fantastic engine, he can go box-to-box, he is a genuine all round midfielder player.”

Blackburn are still awaiting international clearance for the player.

Jones, who has a US father, was born in Frankfurt, and made three friendly appearances for Germany before switching his allegiance to the United States in 2009, making his debut for his new country in October last year.
