Everyone wants Man U to lose: Evra

LONDON - Manchester United left back Patrice Evra believes the whole country is against the club, and said that will only serve to drive them on to remain unbeaten this season and claim a record 19th Premier League title.

United fought out a goalless draw with Spurs on Sunday to go back to the top of the table.

Evra said: “All the country was against Manchester United - everybody wanted us to lose. Remaining unbeaten is a great challenge for us but the most important thing is to win the league.”

United’s unbeaten league run stretches back 25 games to last season’s home defeat by Chelsea in April. And a 19th title would set them apart from bitter rivals Liverpool who, like United, have 18, The Sun reports.

Evra was particularly happy with the way he handled Aaron Lennon, claiming it is a myth that the England star regularly has the better of him.

“He didn’t score and he didn’t make an assist. I think I did a good job and I’m happy with my performance. People always say Lennon gives me a difficult game but I think they’ve only watched the Carling Cup final from 2009. If you watch the games since then I don’t think he has beaten me once,” Evra said.
