Wankhede Stadium fully ready for World Cup: Pawar

MUMBAI - International Cricket Council (ICC) President Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium is fully ready for the upcoming World Cup.

“We completed the World Cup stadium and we will enjoy the Wankhede Stadium, much improved with various other facilities. It was the emergency, which we have a habit to deal (with) emergency,” Pawar told reporters at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) here, where he marked the 30-day countdown to the World Cup by displaying the tournament’s trophy.

Pawar said he is absolutely confident that visiting teams would be happy with the facilities provided.

“I am absolute confident, the team which is going to visit, will be happy. For all practical purpose, for all matches, stadium ground, everything will be absolutely ready. The visitors will be extremely happy after visiting the stadium,” he added.

The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, which kicks off on February 19, will be hosted jointly by Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. (ANI)
