MELBOURNE - World No.9 Li Na has said that her shock win over World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki in the Australian Open semi-finals came despite not getting much sleep last night.

After an error-strewn opening set, Li fought back to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, in a match lasting two hours and 35 minutes at Melbourne Park.

Wozniacki, playing her first Grand Slam as the World No.1, had a match point at 5-4 and 40-30 in the second set before Li rallied to break serve and eventually take the set.

When asked what had inspired her gritty fightback, Li laughingly replied: “Prize money”, adding that her husband-coach Jiang Shan’s snoring had disturbed her sleep.

“I didn’t have a good night’s sleep last night. My husband (snored). I woke up every hour,” she added.

Li, who become the first Asian woman to reach a Grand Slam final, will now face World No.3 Kim Clijsters in Saturday’s final.

“I’m happy that I am the first Chinese player to make the final,” Fox Sports quoted Li, as saying. (ANI)
