LONDON - New Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has said that he is confident of living up to his 35 million pound price tag.

Carroll has become the most expensive British player in Premier League history with his transfer from Newcastle United on deadline day.

“It was a lot of money, but I need to do what I have to do to prove the money was worth it. I am here to score goals and create chances for the team and that is what I can do,” the BBC quoted Carroll, as saying. I have scored goals at Newcastle and that is what I want to bring here - we’ll just have to wait and see [whether the transfer fee was worth it],” he added.

The 22-year-old also said that he does not feel the pressure of replacing Fernando Torres.”Torres was a great player, but I need to concentrate on my own game and play the way I know I can,” Carroll said. (ANI)
