Fernandez-Castano takes Scottish Open lead
LUSS, Scotland — Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano has taken the 54-hole lead in the Scottish Open with a 7-under 64 at Loch Lomond, taking advantange of mistakes by Retief Goosen and Adam Scott on the back nine.
The Spaniard was hitting the ball all over the place on the range, but quickly found his swing with three straight birdies and finished atop the leaderboard at 14-under 199.
He was one shot ahead of Martin Kaymer (66) and Goosen (69).
Goosen lost his tee shot on the par-5 13th and had to scramble for bogey. Scott was fighting for the lead most of the day until a three-putt double bogey on the 12th and a tee shot in the hazard at the 13th. He shot 73.
