Cavendish Wins Tour de France Stage 10

The tenth leg of Tour de France 2009 witnessed an enthralling victory of Britains very own, Mark Cavendish, as the cyclist marked his third stage win as the race rolled over the undulating hills between Limoges and Issoudun.
Mark Cavendish, the winner of the tenth stage, broke away from his team mates with around 750 m still to cover, as the former managed to defy the challenges put against him by Norway’s Thor Hushovd, who after putting up a brave fight finished second and the all American, Tyler Farrar, who finished third.
The overall standings of the tenth stage remained the same as Italy’s Rinaldo Nocatini retained the yellow jersey.
Cavendish, a happy man after the tenth stage victory has reportedly said that the well rested legs and fresh tactics were the two key factors for his success in this years Tour de France. The cyclist also went on to praise his team mates for helping him out to his third stage win in this years tour and seventh in total. “I needed the rest day yesterday. It was good, and every one was fresh today,” exclaimed Cavendish, who seemed to be in a joyous mood after his victory in the tenth stage of this years Tour de France.
Cavendish is now trailing by a mere six points from Hushovd, who holds the green jersey on 147 points.
While expressing his desire to win this years championship, Cavendish said, “I am getting closer to it now, I like the color of it. The team rode well again today and took the race on again. Thor was second there so
I only got five points back on him.”
