Russia wins team tech gold in synchro swimming
ROME — Olympic champion Russia has won the team tech gold medal in synchronized swimming at the world championships.
Swimming to the notes of Albenise’s Spanish suite on Sunday, Russia scored 98.833 points. Spain took the silver medal with 97.833 points and China won bronze with 96.667.
The technical routine requires teams to use a series of elements performed in a specific order. The teams can choose their own music and add additional choreography.
Before the last worlds in Melbourne, Australia, two years ago, team tech and team free were combined for one set of medals.
Russia has won both gold medals in synchro at the last three Olympics.
