Conrad ‘likely’ to miss Gold Cup semifinal
CHICAGO — A concussion will likely knock Jimmy Conrad out of Thursday’s Gold Cup semifinal against Honduras, coach Bob Bradley says.
Conrad suffered the concussion when he was hit in the face during Saturday’s quarterfinal match against Panama. The defender, the U.S. captain for that game, left the field just before the half, and Bradley said Wednesday he’s “likely” to miss the Honduras game.
The semifinal matchup is the third game in six weeks between the United States and Honduras. The Americans beat Honduras in Chicago in a World Cup qualifier on June 6, and won again in the first round of the Gold Cup. The United States is 9-2-3 overall against Honduras.
