Stungbythestorm romps in Monmouth feature
OCEANPORT, N.J. — Stungbythestorm has won the $48,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park by seven lengths.
Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Stewart Elliott, Stungbythestorm pulled away Friday after an early speed duel with Barcola.
This was the second win of the year in five starts for Stungbythestorm. He dropped back into allowance company after running seventh in the Grade 3 Lone Star Park Handicap in his last race.
Stungbythestorm covered the mile and 70 yards in 1:41 1-5. The heavy favorite in the field of five older horses paid $4.80, $2.80 and $2.20. Cuba rallied to place at $3 and $2.40. Flirtatious Smile finished third and paid $3.40.
