Becker wins at Legg Mason, faces Roddick in second round

Becker advances to second round at Legg Mason
WASHINGTON — Germany’s Benjamin Becker beat American Robby Ginepri 7-6 (3), 6-7 (1), 7-6 (4) to advance to the second round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic on Tuesday.
Becker, who won the final six points in the third-set tiebreaker, will next face top-seeded Andy Roddick. The three-time Washington champion received a first-round bye.
Qualifier Sebastien De Chaunac of France also moved into the second round with a 6-3, 7-6 (7) victory over Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin.
Defending champion and No. 2 seed Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina is scheduled to play Tuesday, along with sixth-seeded Marin Cilic, No. 8 Tomas Berdych and 10th-seeded Tommy Haas.
