Tiger-PaddyCHASKA, Minn. — A brief look at the 91st PGA Championship, which starts Thursday (all times EDT):

Winner: Y.E. Yang shot 2-under 70 and finished at 8-under 280.

Trailing: Tiger Woods shot a 75 to finish second, three strokes back. Lee Westwood (70) and Rory McIlroy (70) tied for third at 3 under.

Round of the day: Yang had two birdies and an eagle on 14 for a 70 to carry him to his first major victory.

Shot of the day: Yang holed out on a chip from about 20 yards short of the 14th green for eagle to give him the lead over Woods.

Key statistic: Tiger Woods, who led by two strokes when the day began, was 14-0 when he had at least a share of the lead going into the final round of a major. Make that 14-1.

Noteworthy: It’s the second time in his career that Woods has finished second to Yang. The other was in the 2007 HSBC Champions in China.

Quoteworthy: “I hope this win would be, if not as significant, something quite parallel to an impact both to golf in Korea as well as golf in Asia so that all the young golfers, Korean and Asian, would probably build their dreams and expand their horizons a bit with this win.” — Yang, who became the first Asian to win a major championship.
