Bosnia defender Spahic recovers from swine flu
PARIS — Montpellier defender Emir Spahic has recovered after being diagnosed with swine flu last week and will join his Bosnia-Herzegovina teammates for two World Cup qualifiers.
According to Tuesday’s edition of L’Equipe sports daily, Spahic underwent tests last weekend that confirmed he no longer has the virus.
Bosnia-Herzegovina has 12 points after six matches in Group 5 of qualifying, six points behind leader Spain, and plays Armenia on Saturday before hosting Turkey on Sept. 9.
The 29-year-old defender joined Montpellier this season and has already scored two goals in three Ligue 1 matches.
Montpellier is unbeaten after four games and currently fourth in the French league.
