Sea The Stars wins Irish Champion Stakes
LEOPARDSTOWN, Ireland — Sea The Stars won the Irish Champion Stakes by more than a length Saturday for a fifth straight Group 1 victory.
The 4-6 favorite pulled away from Fame And Glory in the 1¼-mile race. Fame And Glory was second and Mastercraftsman third in the field of nine.
British bookmaker William Hill now lists Sea The Stars as a 7-4 favorite to win next month’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
“I was amazed that he’s actually won by more than a length,” trainer John Oxx said. “He doesn’t usually do that.”
