Trevor Linden to carry torch during Olympic relay

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Former Vancouver Canucks captain Trevor Linden has been asked to run a leg during the Olympic torch relay.

Linden says he doesn’t yet know what leg he’ll be running during the cross-country trip leading to the Winter Games. The relay begins Oct. 30 in Victoria and will cover about 28,000 miles around Canada.

The relay will stop in every province and territory during its 106-day journey before the Olympics begin in Vancouver and Whistler in February.

Other athletes to carry the torch include NBA star Steve Nash from Victoria and golfer Stephen Ames.
