The match on Monday night between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles seemed fraught with injuries. Brothers Byron and Brian Westbrook, who were playing against each other, both suffered injuries. It started with the concussion of Brian Westbrook. Westbrook is the running back for the Philadelphia Eagles. The incident occurred during the first half of the game.

The accident occurred when the knee of the Redskins linebacker London Fletcher collided with Brian’s knee. The running back was rushing with the ball for the five yards along the 45 midway Washington, and his helmet collided with Fletcher’s knee as he was going to the ground. He fell on the ground and remained there for a few minutes, causing quite a jolt among the players and spectators alike. According to reports from onlookers, he did not move any part for some time. It seemed he had lost consciousness. After a while, to everybody’s relief,he moved his legs and then he got up on his feet and walked off the field. The other players were asked to leave the field following Brian’s injury. Everybody left, except Brian’s brother, Byron Westbrook. He was applauded by the spectators as he stood there even after the others had left. He was consoled by Donovan McNabb, quarterback for the Eagles. The Eagles coach Andy Reid allowed him to stay on the field, thinking it was important, given that they were brothers.

Byron himself was injured in the game along with the linebacker H.B. Blades toward the end of the game. Chris Cooley of the Redskins also got hit in the right ankle. The Redskins lost the game 27-17.
