Ivan Ljubicic, Albert Montanes advance to 2nd round at Lyon Grand Prix

Ljubicic advances to 2nd round in France
LYON, France — Third-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia defeated Martin Vassallo Arguello 6-3, 6-4 Tuesday in the first round of the Lyon Grand Prix.
Ljubicic, looking for his first title this season, won 29 of 33 points on his first serve and had seven aces. Vassallo Arguello managed to save 10 of 12 break points in the loss.
The eighth-seeded Albert Montanes edged Fabrice Santoro 6-4, 6-4, who is playing his final season on the ATP circuit.
Also, David Guez defeated Rajeev Ram of the United States 6-2, 6-4, and Marc Gicquel downed Jerome Haehnel 6-1, 6-4.
Gicquel, runner-up in 2006 and 2007 at the indoor hard-court tournament, served eight aces and saved the only break point he faced. He next plays either sixth-seeded Paul-Henri Mathieu of France or Leonardo Mayer of Argentina.
Michael Llodra cruised past Lamine Ouahab 6-1, 6-2, and Kevin Anderson beat Simon Greul 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3).
Later Tuesday, top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France takes on Kevin Kim of the United States.
