Michael Goldsmith Dies From ALS Disease

Michael Goldsmith, one of the greatest fans of the Major League Baseball League has succumbed to death on 1st November, Sunday after suffering from the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis disease for three years. Amyotrophic lateral disease which is better known as the ALS disease has earlier claimed the life of one popular Major League Baseball player, Lou Gehrig. MLB has dedicated the fifth game of the World Series in memory of the baseball player and the baseball fan.
Michael Goldsmith had died in St. Peter’s Hospital of Albany. As stated by the sources, the ALS disease led to respiration failure of Mr.Goldsmith leading to his death. He was an active part of the campaigns launched to create ALS disease awareness among people. Though he had helped in making people aware about this disease but himself became a victim of this disease. According to the sources, he had been admitted to the hospital from the month of August. Michael Goldsmith would be remembered by people not only for his participation in ALS disease awareness campaigns but also for his writings. He used to contribute writings for Newsweek My Turn’s column. It is often said that the writings of this great fan had changed many things of the Major League Baseball games.
ALS disease is one of the fatal diseases that has claimed lives of several people earlier. The nerve cells of a person gets damaged in this disease and he loses controls of the voluntary muscles. It is expected that dedicating the match in honor of Michael Goldsmith would make people aware of the disease.
