CHENNAI - With the titles in almost all the four classes still up for grabs, the competition in the penultimate round of the 13th JK Tyre National Motor Racing Championship to be run here over the weekend promises to be very keen.
Contributing to the mix is the possibility of winter rains that could well influence the outcome while putting to test the ability of drivers to adapt to a wet track.
Much of the focus would be on Indias top touring car racer, Sailesh Bolisetti (RAD Racing), the 21-year-old from Visakhapatnam who is in line to clinch championship titles in the Super Saloon and Volkswagen Polo Cup classes.
Bolisetti, with six wins in eight rounds, comfortably leads the Super Saloon series that he leads with 68 points, well ahead of second-placed G Siddharth Kishore of Performance Racing (45).
In the Polo Cup, Bolisetti, with 271 point in the kitty, leads Kolhapurs Parth Ghorpade (Amaron Pro-Racing) who has 251, followed by Mohd Fahd Kutty (Team Game Over) of Mumbai.
The Formula LGB Swift category has Ajay Kini (Wallace Sports) in the lead with 61 points from seven podium finishes, including two victories while team-mate Gautham Parekh is on 44 points, just ahead of the experienced Ameya Walwalkar (TVS Girling) who has 43.
