Indian athletes receive grand welcome for bagging Asian Games laurels

JAIPUR/JALANDHAR/BHIWANI - Indian athletes were accorded a warm welcome in various parts of the country on Friday after bringing national glory through their performance at the XVIth Asian Games being held in Guangzhou, China.ajrang Lal Thakur and Manjeet Kaur along with ace Haryana pugilist Vijender Singh received a grand welcome in Jaipur, Jalandhar and Bhiwani.
Thakur bagged a gold medal in the Single Sculls 2000m event at the games.
He said: “I want to convey this message to all the audience that if you focus on your aim then you can surely achieve it one day.”
Manjeet Kaur was greeted with firecrackers and dancing to the beats of the traditional dhol in Jalandhar.
Sarabjeet Happy, her coach, said: “The girl has won a gold medal in the 4X4 relay and she repeated the history. First she won a gold medal in Commonwealth Games and she made us feel proud.”
In Bhiwani, Haryana, pugilist Vijender Singh, was also given a warm welcome for securing a gold medal in the event.
His uncle, Jagdish Singh, the achievement was due to the lessings of the people. (ANI)
