Sampras, Agassi to meet again in Paribas Showdown
By ANISunday, February 20, 2011
NEW YORK - Tennis legends Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras are scheduled to play each other in a charity game on February 28 at the Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden in New York.
It is the first time the two American players will play each other since March 2010 in the ‘Hit for Haiti’ charity event at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
When asked how things stand between the two, Agassi said: “Our relationship is strictly platonic. As much time as we spent together, I never really knew him.”
“Two different people, two different styles. Those differences were never bridged between us. But I recognize him as a superior athlete,” the New York Daily News quoted Agassi, as saying.
The event, which also includes a match between John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl, will help fund Agassi’s education foundation and promote tennis among kids. (ANI)
