LONDON - Price William has given a royal snub to FIFA boss Sepp Blatter by not inviting him for his wedding.

Blatter was expected to get an invitation to Westminster Abbey on April 29 because of his close ties to Prince William.

The Sun reports that FIFA’s choice of Russia as 2018 tournament hosts bitterly disappointed the Prince, who had lobbied hard for England to win the honour.

David Beckham and Prime Minister David Cameron - who both worked on England’s bid with FA president Wills, have been invited, along with their wives Victoria and Samantha.

The guest list is said to “reflect the public and private lives” of William, 28, and fiance Kate Middleton, 29, the paper reports.

A source close to the Prince revealed: “William was fuming about the World Cup bid failing and feels we were stitched up. He has personally complained about it to friends.”

“The Prince had the final choice on the guest list. If the wedding was being held before the World Cup decision had taken place, it’s likely it would have been a different story,” the source said.

Gold-stamped invites were sent out over the weekend to 1,900 guests. Of these, 1,300 are invited just to the ceremony. Another 600 will also go to a lunch hosted by the Queen.

Just 300 are invited to an evening reception hosted by Prince Charles. (ANI)
