Prior plans to be a hit in new finisher’s role for England during WC

NAGPUR - England wicketkeeper Matt Prior wants to transform himself into a lethal finisher for the team during the World Cup.
Prior is expected to bat at either six or seven, where he hopes to apply the gloss to big totals - or chase them down - during the tournament.
The Sun quoted Prior, as saying: “The minute anyone says that word, you panic a little bit and think: ‘That’s a lot of responsibility.’ But you want to be one of those members of the team that wins games or helps set them up.”
Prior is brutally honest that his one-day average of 25.08 is too far removed from the 42.96 he boasts at Test level.
But the Ashes hero is now determined to repay the faith shown by Strauss and England coach Andy Flower in picking him for the tournament ahead of Steven Davies.
Prior returned to the England one-day side as Strauss’ opening partner for the recent 6-1 hammering by Australia.
But the gloveman has now seen that job at the top of the order given to Kevin Pietersen while he has been asked to take on the spinners in the middle-order in these dry subcontinent conditions. (ANI)
